SBA out to change billiards landscape

Transforming the landscape of the sport, SBA aims to become the world’s premier professional billiard league, dedicated to propelling billiards into the mainstream sports arena.

MANILA, Philippines — Sharks Billiard Association (SBA), formerly known as Sharks, has announced the official launch of its inaugural season in 2024 to mark a historic moment in the world of billiards.

Transforming the landscape of the sport, SBA aims to become the world’s premier professional billiard league, dedicated to propelling billiards into the mainstream sports arena.

“SBA represents a monumental shift in the realm of billiards worldwide. Amid its decline and its unfortunate association with gambling, we envision SBA as the catalyst for restoring billiards to its rightful place as a respected sport,” said Hadley Mariano, chief executive officer of SBA.

Recognizing the rich pool of talent and the cultural significance of billiards in the Philippines, SBA strategically launched its inaugural season in the country, featuring four esteemed teams. The much-anticipated first season of SBA’s first season will be marked by the groundbreaking SBA Draft, followed by an action-packed regular season capped all the way to the finals. Most matches will be hosted at the SBA Arena along Tomas Morato, Quezon City.

“SBA not only offers a sustainable career path for our players but also serves as a platform for world-class competition within a top-tier arena. At the grassroots level, our mission is to unearth local talents, ensuring the legacy of billiard excellence,” Mariano.

With its commitment to professionalism, innovation, and the celebration of billiards as a sport, SBA is poised to redefine the landscape of billiards, igniting a new era of excitement and prestige within the global billiards community.
