All set for Canlubang Amateur Open golf

MANILA, Philippines — The 19th Canlubang Amateur Open Championship, one of the oldest elite golf tournaments in the country, will be held Oct. 9-11 at the Robert Trent Jones-designed North and South courses in Canlubang , Laguna.

Sean Jean Ramos of Orchard started and finished strong in last year’s edition to win by three strokes over Camp John Hay’s Luigi Paolo Wong in the three-day event organized by Canlubang Golf and supported by National Golf Association of the Philippines (NGAP). Ramos started with the three under par 69 and finished with the same card for a 54-hole total of 211 while Wong took second at 214.

A huge field of 150 top amateurs will compete in the event once dominated by Asian Games individual and team gold medalist Yuka Saso, one of the best female golfers ever honed up in Cangolf.

“We look forward to powered action from our top amateurs over the two courses we prepared to their very best condition,” said Luigi Yulo, executive director of Cangolf.
