Beermen storm back to even series vs Hotshots

QUEZON CITY, Philippines -- Defending champions San Miguel Beermen tied the PBA Philippine Cup finals series at one game apiece after besting Magnolia, 108-101, in Game Two of the best-of-seven series at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao on Friday.

The Beermen, who suffered a close 94-99 loss in Game One, bounced back with the convincing victory.

It was an overall team effort from SMB as seven Beermen finished with double-digits.

Meanwhile, foul trouble and turnovers irked Magnolia all game long.

The four-time defending champions used a big second half push to increase the gap.

SMB led the Hotshots by as much as 21.

June Mar Fajardo and Alex Cabagnot led the way for the Beermen with 16 points each.

Ian Sangalang paced Magnolia in a losing effort with 18 points.

Both teams will attempt to break the deadlock in Game Three on Sunday.
