MANILA, Philippines — Four-peat seeking La Salle guns to stay within striking distance of frontrunner and archrival Ateneo as it shoots for its third straight win against University of the Philippines in the UAAP season 81 women’s volleyball at the Ynares Center in Antipolo today.
The Lady Spikers finished the first round of elims on a pair of victories and are looking to sustain the momentum as they open their second round campaign against the Lady Maroons at 4 p.m.
In the other match at 2 p.m., Far Eastern U, at joint fourth with UP with their 4-3 slates, strives to bounce back after closing the second round with a loss to DLSU.
It squares off with Adamson which will try to arrest a three-game slide and breathe life to its 1-6 mark.
The Lady Spikers tote a 5-2 record, right behind the Lady Eagles who are soaring above the field at 7-1.
Assessing his charges’ first round campaign where they fell to rare back-to-back losses before recovering strongly with a pair of wins to close it, Lady Spikers coach Ramil de Jesus calls on his wards to toughen up for the rough road ahead.
“I tell the team to strengthen their character because in every team that we encounter, their leaders display that. My players should also be like that,” said De Jesus.
“The players are ready to improve themselves in each training. I told them we may not be greatly talented as the other teams, but we can work on that through persistence,” he added.
