MANILA, Philippines — Phoenix made a mincemeat of NLEX, 123-97, in a battle of two teams coming off a loss, Wednesday night at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Eugene Phelps had had it going early, tallying 28 in the first half. He went on to wrap his montrous production with 51 points to go with 20 rebounds.

All but two FuelMasters were unable to contribute in the scoring effort.

"We just told them to not lose two in a row. And they did just that," Phoenix head coach Louie Alas.

Phoenix improves to 6-2 to stay in the hunt for a twice-to-beat incentive in the playoffs.

Road Warriors drop to 4-4.

Phelps registered his second 50-point performance this conference. His most against Blackwater where he made 53, March 18, 2017. It was also in Cuneta Astrodome.

Phoenix takes on San Miguel Beer on Oct. 12 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

NLEX goes against Meralco on Oct. 14 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
