Manila Southwoods to host first PSA Cup September 25

MANILA, Philippines — More than 80 players will be seeing action on Tuesday when the Philippine Sportswriters Association holds its first-ever PSA Charity Golf Cup presented by Manila Southwoods and the Philippine Sports Commission at the Legends course in Carmona, Cavite.

Golfers from the PSC, headed by chair Butch Ramirez, the PBA through commissioner Willie Marcial, the Philippine Olympic Committee led by Ricky Vargas and the ranks of sportswriters take part in the 18-hole event that aims to raise funds for the projects of the country’s oldest media organization.

Attractive prizes are up for grabs, including a round-trip ticket to the United States courtesy of Philippine Airlines, for a hole-in-one on No. 16 aside from trophies for individual champions in all divisions.

The maiden PSA Cup will also see a battle among teams from the PSA, PBA and PSC-POC for the team trophy. The System 36 method of scoring will be used with the top 10 scores counting for each team. The team that wins the event three straight years will get to keep the perpetual trophy.

Others backing the noble project are San Miguel Corp., Meralco, PLDT/Smart, ICTSI, Sunrise Events, Inc., Rain or Shine, Mighty Sports and the PBA.
