SW-Masters eyes Luzvimin tourney repeat

MANILA, Philippines — Manila Southwoods Masters parades a curious mix of young and veteran players as it sets out for its title-retention drive in the 2018 Luzvimin golf tournament which gets going tomorrow at Taal Splendido Golf Club in Laurel, Batangas.

Mafy Singson, Laurea Duque and Reese Ng hope to provide the exuberance of the youth while Lorelie Roberto, Florence Okiyama and Amy Ward the firepower, experience and poise as the Carmona-based squad tries to make it back-to-back after reclaiming the crown in the premier Diamond division of the event sponsored by Champion Infinity with a 42-point romp at Mimosa last year.

But six others will be going all-out to foil Southwoods’ bid in the event held under the Molave scoring system, including Del Monte, the 2016 champion at Rancho Palos Verdes.

Six other teams will slug it out in the Emerald section while Camp Aguinaldo, Orchard I and Villamor 2 gear up for a battle royale in Ruby class in the event organized by the Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines and sponsored by San Miguel Corp., Metro Pacific, Eva Air and Alveo Land.
