Kelly, Trinidad fall in ONE Indonesian card

MANILA, Philippines – Filipinos Eric Kelly and Rome Trinidad bowed out of contention early in ONE Championship's showpiece in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Saturday night.

The Baguio City native Kelly fell prey to Japense veteran Tetsuya Yamada in the first round.

Yamada traded strikes with Kelly before shooting for a takedown. The former capped his outing with a rear-naked choke at the three-minute mark of the opening Salvo.

Later that night, Trinidad lost to Indonesia's very own Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol.

Circling each other for the first few minutes, the young Filipina tried to dictate the pace of the fight with her striking. She was locked by Gaol with a standing guillotine choke.

Unable to break free, the tussle transition to the ground where Trinidad was finished off.  Trinidad tapped out with the 1st round clock reading 2:27.

In the main event, Yoshitaka Naito reclaimed his title from the one who took it from him -- Alex Silva.

Both fighters flaunted their grappling prowess in a tussle that went the distance.

Naito was awarded the victor with a split decision win, putting him back on the strawweight throne.

The two Filipino fighters were supposed to shoot for a victory that sends both of them to the win column.

The Philippines will have a chance to enjoying the sweet taste of a victory when the promotions mounts another fight night in Singapore this coming Friday.
