World body withdraws Philippine karatedo recognition

MANILA, Philippines — The World Karatedo Federation has withdrawn its recognition of the Philippine Karatedo Federation-NSA Inc., stripping the embattled association of powers to govern the sport in the country.

The Madrid-based world body’s executive committee made the decision after reviewing the report from executive committee member Vincent Chen, who was tasked to come over to Phl to gather information and investigate complaints against the PKF.

WKF president Antonio Espinos himself informed the PKF of its verdict in a letter to PKF chief Joey Romasanta dated April 17.

“We have reviewed all the evidences (sic) and research provided by our Executive Committee (EC) member. Mr. Vincent Chen, and the information provided by you and your federation, and the WKF EC has decided to withdraw the recognition of the PKF-NSA Inc. with immediate effect,” Espinos wrote.

“Kindly note that the disaffiliation will be submitted to for ratification of the WKF Congress,” he added.

The PKF, Espinos relayed, may appeal its status before the WKF’s next Congress in Madrid in November.

“Your federation will be granted the opportunity to to express its views with regards to its disaffiliation...if it wishes, in which case we ask you to kindly inform us about your decision before 30th April 2018,” he said.
