Falcons rip Altas, close in on semis

Up by just three points entering the final period, the Falcons leaned on Egie Mojica, who poured in nine of his 15 points to spark a big run that saw them outscore the Altas, 31-16, en route to their eighth win against two defeats in a tie for the lead with the idle Centro Escolar Scorpions.

MANILA, Philippines — Akari-Adamson unleashed a big fourth quarter run to turn back University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, 101-83, yesterday and zero in on one of the two outright semifinal seats in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Akari-Adamson guns for the semis against Jose Rizal U Bombers on April 5.

The Altas fell to 3-6.

Papi Sarr led his team with 16 points while Sean Manganti dished out a superb overall game of 14 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

But it was Mojica who delivered the goods, including three triples that sealed the victory for the Falcons.

He added they will use the next two weeks to prepare for their important duel with a JRU.

Zarks-Lyceum of the Phl U later trounced Jose Rizal U, 91-81, to bolster its semis bid with a 6-4 card.

The Bombers fell to 1-8.
