MANILA, Philippines -- IBF flyweight champion Donnie Nietes showcased a clinical performance Sunday, stopping Juan Carlos Reveco in the seventh round to defend his title at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

Nietes had Reveco almost out on his feet at the bell ending the sixth round, then disposed of him early in the next canto to cap a dominant showing.

The 35-year-old Bacolod-based fighter stalked a backpedalling Reveco and pummeled him with a flurry of body shots, sending the challenger down. The Argentine managed to beat the count, but his corner asked the referee to wave the fight off.

The official time of the stoppage was 53 seconds into the seventh round, awarding Nietes his 41st victory, 23rd by way of knockout.

Prior to the knockout, Nietes dominated Reveco with his precision punching that left the challenger with little chance to retaliate.

Reveco fell to 39-4 (with 19 KOs).
