Delos Reyes, Gilbuena top Bike King duathlon

MANILA, Philippines - Joey Delos Reyes cashed in on good weather condition and bested the field to retain his Elite crown and lead another 1-2-3 finish by the Standard Insurance team in the Bike King Duathlon at the Alviera in Porac, Pampanga last Sunday.

Delos Reyes completed the long distance 6km run-6km bike-4km run with a winning time of two hours, 14 minutes, 56 seconds. He took home the top cash prize of P10,000.

Teammates Cipriane John Topia placed second in 2:18:55 while Jarwyn Banatao clocked 2:19:27 for third.

Meanwhile, national team mainstay Miscelle Gilbuena dominated the women’s Elite side, finishing in 2:41:35 and beating Sante Barley members Jelsie Sabado (2:50:02) and Rowena Valdez (3:02:11), who took the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

“Unlike last year’s race, the heat was not too intense which was helpful as I was able to excel,” said Delos Reyes. “At around the 15km point of the bike leg along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), I gained the lead and kept it until the finish line.”
