Hawkeyes, Bakers seek to stay joint second

MANILA, Philippines - Cignal-San Beda and Café France try to stay at second as they take on separate rivals in the PBA D-League Aspirant’s Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig today.

The Hawkeyes stake their four-game win run against the Tanduay Rhu Masters in the 5 p.m. match while the Bakers set out as the heavy favorites against the struggling Victoria side in the 3 p.m. opener.

After dropping their opening game, the Hawkeyes have racked up four straight wins, putting them in early contention, just half-a-game behind the unbeaten Racal Tile Masters (5-0).

But Cignal-SBC coach Boyet Fernandez has opted to downplay his team’s chances, saying they have to reach peak form, and the Rhum Masters, with a 3-2, slate, remain formidable rivals.
