Aguinaldo, Villamor top WGAP Orchard

MANILA, Philippines – Camp Aguinaldo put in a pair of superb performances to capture the Class B and C crowns while Villamor bested Alabang to snare the Class A plum in the 2016 WGAP Circuit fourth leg at the Orchard Golf and Country Club’s Palmer course in Dasmariñas, Cavite recently.

The Aguinaldo ladies drew balanced scoring from Edlyn Robas (42 points), Rusela Bertillo (41), Leni Cabili (40) and Anita Salivio (40) for 163 Stableford points to beat the Villamor side by eight in Class B of the event conducted by the Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines.

Aguinaldo’s Class C squad also churned out a solid game with Leah Espino Holder and Katherine Uy firing 42 points apiece and Robie Ann Ramirez and Lally Trinidad scoring 34 points each for a 152 total, beating Canlubang by five.

Villamor capped the day for the underdogs, taking the Class A diadem on the 42 points of Chanelle Avaricio and the 41, 40, 38 of Denise Tambuatco, Nora delos Santos and Arline Sheila Ward, respectively, for a 161 in the fourth leg of the circuit sponsored by Champion Infinity and Metro Pacific.

That was four points ahead of Alabang, which had 157 behind Christine Naidoo (42),  Rita Horan (41), Marilyn Reyes (38) and Lorna Tabuena (36).

Sta. Elena scored 150 and nipped Aguinaldo in the countback for third while Tagaytay put in a 149 for fifth followed by Orchard (149), Eagle Ridge (142), Forest Hills (138) and Canlubang (123).

Villamor placed second in Class B with 155 points while host Orchard notched its first point with a third place finish with a 146. Sta. Elena ended up fourth with a 142, nipping Alabang in the countback.
