CIE bets top Visayas leg of inter-school junior golf

MANILA, Philippines – Siblings Wei Wei and Weiyu Gao joined hands with Ryo Haga and LK Go in leading Centre for International Education to overpowering victory in the juniors division in the recent Visayas qualifier of the ICTSI-JGFP Inter-School at the Cebu Country Club recently.

Wei Wei tallied 102 as the team’s top scorer while Go added 100, Weiyu made 98 and Haga chalked up 94 in two rounds for a two-day team total of 304 and a 37-point win over SHS-Ateneo de Cebu in the event backed by the International Container Terminal Services, Inc. Foundation.

Cebu International School topped both the Aspirants 1 and Girls 2 categories to join CIE as Visayas qualifiers in the forthcoming national finals on Jan. 18-19 at the Player course of the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

The tourney, also supported by the Philippine Golf Foundation and Philippine Airlines, featured the best jungolfers in the Visayas representing CIE, SHS-Ateneo de Cebu, Cebu International School, British International School, Pajo National High School, PAREF Springdale, St. Anthony Montesorri, Singapore School Cebu, University of San Carlos, SHS Hijas De Jesus, Cebu Learning Center, St. Paul Learning Center, Mary Help of Christian School, Blessed Trinity Achiever’s Academy, Cebu Eastern College, Cebu Doctor’s University, Asian School of Technology, Abbas Orchard, Bright Academy, The Masters Academy and St. Theresa’s College Cebu.

Making up CIS Aspirants squad were Yuhi Oga, John Lee, Harvey Bell, Kim Sung-hoon and Yoshiki Hirasawa while the girls trio was made up of Misaki Imai, Vivian Lee and Riko Nagai. 

The individual champions in the various divisions including Keisuke Tatara of Velez College (senior), Wei Wei Gao (juniors), Joaquin Velez of CIE (Aspirants 1), Ren Moramasa of CIE (Aspirants 2), Erica Lim of Cebu Doctors University (Girls 1), Junia Gabasa of Bright Academy (Girls 2) and Jordan Page Quano of Singapore School Cebu (Girls 3) also earned finals slots.
