St. Benilde, San Beda rule NCAA table tennis

MANILA, Philippines -- St. Benilde successfully defended its title in the men's division even as San Beda racked up a three-peat feat in the women's side of the just concluded 91st NCAA table tennis tournament at the Arellano U's Pasay City campus.

Ryan Jacolo spearheaded the Blazers, mentored by Rudolph Palermo, second straight title, which came a season after they surprised everyone by ending the Red Smashers' five-year title rule.
Jacolo ended up bagging the MVP award.

Reigning MVP Beverly Paulima, for her part, carried the Kurt de Guzman-coached the San Beda lady paddlers through extend their dynastic reign to six straight seasons.

Over at the Powersmash Badminton Center in Makati City, St. Benilde swept the men's, women's and juniors crowns to underscore its domination of badminton.

Lante Erickson Bautista, Alizandra Candelaria and James Candelario capped St. Benilde's mighty performance by emerging the men's, women's and juniors MVP winners, respectively.

Lloyd Escoses coached both the St. Benilde shuttlers while Romeo Selga mentored the high school squad.
