Team Ferrari joins Cannonball 1000

MANILA, Philippines - Team Ferrari, led by its president Mark Soong, has answered the challenge posed by the Cannonball 1000, a 24-hour ride along a scenic North Luzon route on Jan. 9.

Representing Team Ferrari in the unique motorsports event in the Cannonball car category are Sen. JV Ejercito and Ferrari race driver Enteng Floirendo.

The participants, a conglomeration of top motorcycle riders, circuit-racers, actors, actresses, business execs, weekend warriors and regular drivers, will answer the starting gun on Friday at the Widus Hotel and Casino in Clark, Pampanga to traverse a scenic, 1000-kilometer North Luzon loop in just 24 hours.

“We’re ecstatic to announce that we reached our target of 500 participants, who are all raring to experience this novel motorsports event,” said six-time endurance driver champion Joey Almeda. “This will be hard to top in the coming years, but that is a challenge that we are willing to take.”

Fil Oil Energy Company, Flying V and the Paragon Group of Companies are the major sponsors of this motorsports adventure, with the backing of Granstar Motors, KTM, Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, Vespa, MV Augusta, Ducati, BMW, Mazda, Jeep, Harley-Davidson and Petron.

The participants were briefed on the event’s safety measures, rules and regulations, checkpoints, road maps and several do’s and don’ts, among others.

Motorcycle Diary’s Jay Taruc also registered and will cover the CB 1000 using his Vespa Motorcycle.

Additional celebrities that recently registered to participate are motorcycle riders Jordan Herrera, Eric Fructuoso, Kristopher Peralta, Robert Ortega Jr., Gary Estrada, Mike Gayoso and four others.

Other participants are TV host Danby Henares, actors Richard Gutierrez, Gary Estrada, Albert Martinez, Arnel Ignacio and Dominic Ochoa, actresses Diana Zubiri and Jackie Rice, chef Andrew Lopez, host/model Andy Smith, circuit racers Gaby dela Merced, Renan and Erika Morales, Team Thunderbugs from Bacolod City and Miata Club of the Philippines.
