Holy Trinity GenSan tops Minda C League

MANILA, Philippines - Holy Trinity College of General Santos City eked out a 99-98 squeaker over STI-Cagayan de Oro to win the Champions League Mindanao regional games at Xavier U gym in Cagayan de Oro City recently.

DMMA College-Southern Philippines of Davao City, meanwhile, routed St. Joseph College of Zamboanga, 99-56, to clinch third place honors.

The HTC Wildcats will thus head to Cebu for the Vis-Min qualifying games against Visayas champion University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos and University of Visayas and University of San Jose Recoletos, third and fourth placers, respectively of CESAFI.

The winner of the Vis-Min qualifying games will advance to the Elite Eight phase of the Champions League 2014 National Collegiate Championship.

Already assured of seats in the Elite Eight are UAAP teams Far Eastern University and National University and CESAFI’s top two teams – University of San Carlos and Southwestern University.

The other seats are reserved for the top two NCAA teams and the winners of Luzon-Metro Manila and Vis-Min Qualifying games.

The South Luzon-Bicol regional games will be held at J. C. Lobredo Coliseum, Naga City on Nov. 3-4 with champion teams from Sorsogon, Quezon province, Naga, Tabaco, Batangas, Cavite and Laguna competing.

The North-Central Luzon regional games are scheduled on Nov. 3-5 to be held at Lyceum North Western University Gym, Dagupan City. Participating are the collegiate champions of Vigan, Baguio-Benguet, Pangasinan, La Union, Pampanga and Zambales.

All the regional championship games will be covered by ABS-CBN Sports and Action, Studio 23, and shown nationwide.
