MANILA, Philippines - Registration for the Southern Ladies Open is now in full swing with newly crowned US Girls’ Juniors champion Princess Superal expected to lead the cast in the 51st staging of the event firing off Aug. 20.

For details, contact the organizing National Golf Association of the Philippines at 0917-5607074, (02) 9250022/7065926 or email [email protected]. Players may register at Apo Golf through numbers (82) 2972090/2150. Entry form may be downloaded from www.ngaponline.net.

After becoming the first Filipino-born player to win the US Girls’ title in Portland two weeks ago, Superal, 17, will be the hands-down favorite in the 54-hole championship should the top ICTSI-backed bet decides to resume her bid for a third straight championship.

Players coming from prominent clubs like Riviera in Cavite, the Country Club in Bacolod and Baguio, Valley Golf in Antipolo, Matina Davao Golf Club, and the host club Apo Golf have signed up for the event presented by the MVP Sports Foundation and backed by the PSC as part of the PLDT Group Amateur Tour.

Apo will pose as a great challenge for the field, with its length, winding fairways and tricky greens making this edition one of the toughest Southern Ladies’ events.

A big number of other members of the ICTSI stable, counting Pauline Del Rosario and recent Ping Summer Classic champion Abegail Arevalo, are also expected to join the event.
