Generals try to fuel semis bid vs Cards

MANILA, Philippines - Emilio Aguinaldo College takes on a struggling Mapua side in the lone NCAA men’s basketball game today with the Generals looking for a win and a boost to their Final Four bid at The Arena in San Juan.

In joint sixth with a surging St. Benilde at 3-5, EAC goes for an all-important win in the 6 p.m. encounter with the Cardinals, down in the cellar with a woeful 1-7 mark.

The Generals are coming off a big 79-63 rout of the Arellano U Chiefs in a fight-marred game last Saturday although they could be without back up big man Sydney Onwubere, a rookie straight from EAC’s high school who figured in a fight with Arellano U’s Fil-Canadian James Forrester.

League commissioner Joe Lipa, however, said he would only make a recommendation after reviewing the video tape from AksyonTV 41, its official television coveror.

“We were supposed to get the tape from them last Monday. But because of the bad weather, we were not able to do so,” Lipa told The STAR yesterday.

“Barring any game postponement, we’ll probably get the tape tomorrow (today), review the incident and perhaps make a decision out of it should it merit one right before the EAC-Mapua game,” he added.
