Zulberti, Coseteng score big wins in karting series

MANILA, Philippines - Last year’s Cadet Karter of the Year Tai Zulberti of CityKart and talented young ace Eduardo Coseteng Jr. pulled off  big wins in their respective classes recently in the fourth leg of the 2013 Coca-Cola Karting Super Series at the short, high-speed Kart Track Boomland in Pasay.

Zulberti dominated all three races to capture his second win in the Mini ROK class after ruling the kickoff race while Coseteng also pulled off  a sweep to emerge the Formula Cadet Expert champion of this sponsored by Coca-Cola Philippines and Yokohama, and sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines.

The Boomland track proved to be a big test for the two young ace karters as they had to keep an eye on each other and other  rivals.

The Mini-ROK race started as a three-way showdown among Zulberti, Batangas leg winner Flynn Jackes of TRS Racing Kids and Asian Karting Mini-ROK champion Jacob Ang of Eagle Cement at the start but Zulberti consistently controlled the top spot. and later pull away in the Qualifying heat, the Pre-Final and the Final race.

Posting a best time of 32.261 seconds, Zulberti completed the 16-lap Final race in eight minutes and 32.972 seconds or 6.902 seconds ahead of runner-up William Casequin of TRS Racing Kids.

Dylan Arambulo of Tough Gear Racing checked in third while Mickey Jordan and Sean Draeco McLelland wound up fourth and fifth respectively.

Coseteng Jr. was equally prolific in sweeping all the races in the Formula Cadet Expert class as the win firmed up his status among the top young karting aces destined to carry on the legacy of his father and multi-titled champ Jody Coseteng.

He completed the 16-lap Final race in eight minutes and 57.061 seconds or 1.716 seconds ahead of runner-up Bianca Bustamante.

Jose Luigi Lachica of One Racing claimed third place while Sean Draeco McLelland and Mickey Jordan ended fourth and fifth respectively.

Larco Cortez of Formula-E Racing checked in third in the combined race to emerge the Formula Cadet Novice champion over runner-up Julia delos Angeles and third placer Jarred Kim of TRS Racing Kids and fourth placer Bobby Redpath of AUTSRacing.

 Sharing the limelight was newcomer Sean Smith of CityKart who pulled a big upset winning the Formula SL Novice crown over top favorite Gabe Cabrera.  AT Tuason of TRS Karting Kids took third place while Kevin Ty and Mark Francis Tanlu of AUTS Racing wound up fourth and fifth.
