Suma tops 5th leg of national scrabble

MANILA, Philippines - Mohammad Bin Abdul Suma, a 15-year-old student from Taguig National High School, won the fifth leg of the National Scrabble Championship held last July 30 and 31 at the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines (RBAP) Conference Room in Intramuros, Manila.

Suma won 14 out of 16 games. He placed eighth in the World Youth Scrabble Championship held last year at the Great Eastern Hotel, Quezon City. This was announced by Robbie Onate, president of the Scrabble Association of the Philippines.

However, Odette Rio of Iloilo won the first three legs of the championshipand will represent the Philippines in the World Scrabble Championship to be held this November in Poland.

There will be scrabble tournaments every last Saturday of the month and on Oct. 29 and 30. The National Open Scrabble Championship will be held at RBAP Conference Hall.
