All-Women run slated at Venice Piazza Mall

MANILA, Philippines - A novel running event, with accent on women power, will be fired off on June 27 at the Venice Piazza Mall at McKinley Hill with some of the career women, including managers and top executives and working moms from the Big City and nearby towns are expected to participate in the Team Woman Run.

Organizers of the event, presented by Woman by Lactacyd, have put up an interesting competition rarely seen in local running – a four-woman team relay spread over 21k or half marathon distance.

The kickoff stage is a 10k run with the next set at 5k and the last two at 3k, giving each team captain the task of who to field in the longer route, the mid-distance and the shorter ones.

“We hope to encourage women, including those achievers in their respective fields, to take up running as an inexpensive, convenient sport for a healthy lifestyle,” said Lactacyd product manager Alde Po in the weekly PSA Forum at Shakey’s UN Avenue.

Khristine Cabanayan, corporate communications officer of Sanofi Adventis, also disclosed in the same session presented by Outlast Battery, PAGCOR, Shakey’s and Accel, that organizers of the meet is trying to invite popular running enthusiasts re-elected Senator Pia Cayetano and singer/actress Karylle.

Po added that the competition may yet be the start of a series of events to be backed by Lactacyd not only in the field of running but in other sports endeavor as well.

Format calls for a 3-4 women team aged 18-45 years old with a participant allowed to run twice on the first and last legs of the event backed by 100 Plus, Alaska Slim, Beauty Bar, Bluewater Day Spa, David’s Salon, Dole, Summit and Timex and media partners Multisport, Runnerspeak and Women’s Health.

Registration is set on May 15-June 24 at Timex North Edsa, Timex MOA, Timex Southmall and Runnr Bonifacio High Street, according to the organizer Eventking Corp. Fees are pegged at P1,000 per team with two (2) bottles of Woman by Lactacyd 200ml and proof of purchase (bottle and receipt) and P1,500 without proof or purchase.
