SSC's Abueva fires game-winner vs UP

MANILA, Philippines - Reigning NCAA finals MVP Calvin Abueva banged in a jumper in the dying seconds as San Sebastian edged University of the Philippines, 82-81, while Mapua A trounced Lyceum, 79-71, to share the Group A lead in the fifth Fr. Martin Collegiate Open Cup at the Lyceum gym.

Jose Rizal smothered Our Lady of Fatima U, 83-59, while Far Eastern U and Mapua B defeated Arellano A, 55-45, and Perpetual Help, 69-67, respectively, to boost their respective bids in the event backed by Molten and organized by Ato Badolato, Joey Lim and Kurt de Guzman with Aric and Lester del Rosario as commissioners.
