60th Yulo Cup qualifier slated at 'Old Course'

MANILA, Philippines - A banner field of close to 140 players will go for berths in the championship phase of the 60th Yulo Cup annual tournament when a four-day elimination is held Sept. 17 to 20 at the compact, tree-lined Canlubang Old Course in Canlubang, Laguna.

The competing field will vie for 12 berths in Class A, 24 slots in Class B and 25 each in Classes C and D in the final stage of the tournament slated Sept. 24 to 27

Louie Ballesteros is the defending club champion while Bobot Sarenas is the reigning Yulo Cup titlist.

 A two-day senior event in two age categories – 55 to 59 and 60-and-above, and an 18-hole Legends classic will be held also in the final weekend of the event held yearly to honor the late speaker Jose Yulo, Canlubang founder and benefactor.

The organizing committee is led by Coy Quiros with Randy Estepa as tournament director. The event is held under the auspices of Canlubang Sugar Estate Athletic Association (CSEAA) and supported by friends of the association.

Among those seeing action in the Legends tourney are Canlubang PAL Interclub team skipper Luigi Yulo, national seniors champ Tommy Manotoc, Bebo Quiros, former amateur titlist Rolly Viray, old Canlubang team mainstays Louie Advincula and Mateo Trinos Jr., Bing Bunye and Mars Advincula.
