FVR, National Golf Association chief grace jungolf circuit opener

MANILA, Philippines - Former President Fidel Ramos and National Golf Association of the Philippines president and DOTC Secretary Leandro Mendoza will lead the hitting of the ceremonial balls in the Jungolf Interclub tournament tomorrow at the Player course of the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

FVR and Mendoza will be joined by Federation of Golf Clubs Philippines president Ogie Manalo, Orchard general manager Rene Garovillo and Gerry Handog, chairman of the Jungolf Foundation of the Philippines in the 54-hole tourney kicking off the Jungolf Summer Circuit presented by Philippine Airlines.

Olive Montecillo Villafuerte, daughter of the late Jungolf chair Amalia Montecillo, will deliver an inspirational talk.

The other sponsors of the summer circuit are Diamond Motor Corp., Club Marinduque, Unilever, Ottica Corp., Fury, Callaway/ Electrobus, Let’s Face It, Golf Depot and Aces Agri Manufacturing Corp. supported by NGAP, Federation of Golf Clubs and Inquirer Golf.

A total of 170 kids representing 29 teams are vying for the titles in Division I for players in Class A (15-17 years) and Class B (13-14), Division II for those in Class C (11-12) and Class D (9-10) and Division III for Class E (7-8) and Class F (6 under).

The participating clubs are Aguinaldo, Alabang, Army formerly Kagitingan, Baguio Country Club, Calatagan, Canlubang, Club Intramuros, Eagle Ridge, Iloilo Golf Club, Alta Vista, The Country Club, Manila Southwoods, Orchard and Valley.
