Young San Andres makes dent in US

-

Kenneth San Andres once again proved that he is fast learner after finishing third in a field of 40 riders during Round 1 of the Spring Fling Series 2008 Production Class at the Starwest Motocross Park in Calilfornia, USA recently.

A week prior to the Starwest sojourn, San Andres underwent a rigid, one-week, solo session with renowned American motocross guru Kurt Henrickson. Last year’s Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) awardee for motocross learned for a week what could have been worth a yearlong participation in international motocross events.

The Pro Open defending champion of the Any Sunday Motocross Series learned about new techniques in the field of motocross – valuable education which he promptly used immediately in two US motocross events.

“The lessons I learned from the intensive training under Mr. Henrickson proved to be very valuable when I entered the Spring Fling race, where I went up against veteran American riders,” admitted San Andres. Had it not been for the training, I would have been placed in the lower half of the field,” said San Andres, who also finished fourth in Round 1 of the Spring Series, this time at the Ferris Raceway also in California.

San Andres gets to show the new stuff that he learned in Round 5 of the 10-leg Mayor Tinga Cup National Motocross Series at the Fast Track Circuit, located along Upper Bicutan tomorrow.

The motocross series is  sanctioned by the National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association (NAMSSA). which is affiliated with the Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Sports Commission, organized by Xtreme Worx and supported by City of Taguig, Inside Racing, Oakley, Flamboyant Construction, JBS Moto Shop, Stoplight TV, GCG, Topmaster and Sign Effex.

Conveniently located in Taguig City, the Fast Track venue has five-star facilities for off-road events, inclusive of clubhouse and recreation facilities.

Registration is on Saturday, while pre-event and races shall start on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. For more info, check out www.namssa.org or call 0917 847 9785.

“This venue gives our sports riders a proper and controlled environment for motorcycle sports of which has already proved our local Filipino talent may excel in international competitions, as this facility is a training ground for the Philippine Motocross Team, whom has seen many competitions abroad and brought honors to our country,” said Mayor Tinga.
