"New home, new challenge. But I like the challenge," Limpot told The STAR.
"Ang nakakalungkot lang iiwanan ko ang Ginebra after four years akong naglaro sa kanila. Pero tingin ko maganda ang nangyari para sa akin. Mukhang may magandang opportunity na naghihintay sa akin sa Purefoods," added Limpot, moment after meeting with Purefoods team manager Rene Pardo and coach Ryan Gregorio at Edsa Shangri-La.
"I like the team concept and the role I would be playing in the team. Binigyan ako ni Mr. Pardo at coach Ryan ng responsibility which I think kaya ko naman."
Limpot said he doesn’t see any problem getting along with his new teammates, pointing out that Purefoods team captain Alvin Patrimonio was his teammate in the RP Centennial Team that competed in the Bangkok Asian Games.
"Mukhang marami naman kami na bagong players na dadating sa Purefoods because they’re overhauling the team. They’re building up the team and I feel fortunate to be part of it," Limpot said.
At 31 and in the final year of a mega-contract he got from his original team Sta. Lucia, Limpot promised to work even harder, hoping to finally nail an elusive championship.
"Yun naman talaga ang target ko. Hindi ako titigil hanggang hindi manalo ng PBA championship. Kapag nakuha ko na yan, pwede na akong mag-retiro," said Limpot, the only PBA star who’s yet to taste a championship in the league.
