Mikee resource speaker in congress for women, sports

Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski, whose heroics in the individual showjumping event in equestrian during the final day of competition at the 14th Asian Games in Busan, South Korea gave Team Philippines its third gold medal, will be among the resource speakers at the upcoming first Philippine Congress on women and sports slated on Nov. 21-24 at the Tagaytay International Convention Center in Tagaytay City.

The 28-year-old Mikee will talk on "Playing and Motherhood" in what could be one of the most anticipated technical sessions at the four -day conclave that has for its theme "Converging the Divergence of Philippine Womensports: Issues, actions and Initiatives." Hailed as the country’s "Golden Girl," Mikee stunned a highly competitive field of world-class riders when she won the individual showjumping gold in a flawless performance on board Rustic Rouge.

The Philippines’ newest heroine will be joined in the technical sessions by other women sports icons like Bong Coo-Garcia (from bowling to business), Lydia de Vega-Mercado (from athletics to politics) and Dyan Castillejo (from tennis to media) who have also confirmed their participation as presenters at the confab.

Coincidentally, Mikee’s father-in-law Sen. Robert Jaworski will be one of the resource speakers at the Womensports Congress. The Big J, a former Olympian and one of the PBS’ 25 greatest players, will be speaking about "Working Effectively with Women: A Sportsman’s Perspective."

Conference director, PSC commisioner Cynthia Carrion is bent on making the event not only a successful first Women Congress but also a star-studded one saying, "we have to showcase the greatness of the Filipina." Participation is on a first-come-first-served basis. Interested parties may inquire at 303-1024, 3031030 or 404-2838.
