De Ocampo named PBL Cup MVP

A dream come true for Yancy de Ocampo.

The 6’8" Welcoat slotman topped both statistics and votes to emerge the Mo st Valuable Player of the PBL-Alaxan Challenge Cup.

He garnered a total of 724.5 points as he earned 469.5 points on statistics and got the highest votes with 225.

"Magandang pabaon ito para sa pag-akyat ko sa
PBA. At least I got half of my goals, it’s just unfortunate that we’re not doing well in this championship series," said De Ocampo after receiving the trophy from PBL commissioner Chino Trinidad and PBL chairman Dioceldo Sy.

He bested Shark’s Chester Tolomia (613.75) and teammate Ren-Ren Ritualo (551.25).

Joining them in the Mythical Team are Shark’s Warren Ybanez who got 517.75 points and Kutitap Toothpaste’s Allan Salangsang who had 500.25.

ICTSI-La Salle’s Mike Cortez bagged the Best Newcomer Award with 378.5 points.

Cortez also made it into the Second Mythical Team along with Kutitap’s Cyrus Baguio (435.75), Welcoat’s Jojo Manalo (410.5), Ana Freezer’s Roland Pascual (410) and Shark’s Rysal Castro (372.25).

Montana’s Gary David was the unanimous choice as Most Improved Player of the conference while Ana Freezer’s Dondon Mendoza bagged the Sportsmanship Award.
