Mayor Vi naghinanakit sa fans

PERUSE ME - Ronnie Carrasco -

Little did I realize that my article about Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto (that came out here last November 14) would create a stir. Tungkol kasi ’yon sa binigyan-daan kong reklamo ng isa sa mga  miyembro ng Vilma Santos Solid International (VSSI) who spoke for his group dahil umano sa shabby treatment ni Gov/Ate Vi sa kanila.

That same day, I got repeated missed calls, ’yun pala’y galing kay Jojo Lim, presidente ng VSSI. Sa landline kami mahaba-habang nagkausap ni Jojo who I initially expected to raise hell on me, but he was so gracious.

Hiyang-hiya nga raw si Jojo, sampu ng mga miyembro ng VSSI, sa impormasyon ng aking source, si Zaldy Catli as it might displease their idol (and my idol, too). In the name of fairness, gusto kong bigyang-daan din ang pahayag ni Jojo: ‘‘We, the offers as well as the members of the VSSI, denounce the ill motive behind the disclosure of such information made by Mr. Zaldy Catli. Therefore, we would like to stress that the opinion or grievance of any of our individual members does not reflect the entire group.’’

Kinagabihan, I recieved a message from an anonymous texter, but obviously from a Vilmanian.

Immediately, tinawagan ko si Jojo, but he wasn’t at home. Pero nu’ng magkausap na kami, natanggap din pala niya ang parehong mensahe, and to his impression, based on Ate Vi’s reply ay ramdam din niya ang tono ng hinanakit ng kanilang idol towards their ilk. Lalo pa raw napatunayan ni Jojo sa kanyang sarili ang no-reply ni Ate Vi to his same text message sent thrice.

Nu’ng araw ding ’yon, Jojo had been receiving an endless barrage of calls/text messages from fellow Vilmanians here and abroad na nakabasa rin ang artikulong aking isinulat. While they collectively denounced ’yung pagbibigay-impormasyon sa akin ni Zaldy, sumama rin ang loob nila sa akin considering na isa pa mandin daw Vilmanian ang nagsulat nu’n, whom they expected the least.

I flatly told Jojo that I couldn’t take away that right, in the same manner that I knew na sumama rin ang loob ni Ate Vi sa akin. But one admirable trait ng mga Vilmanians, they’re not the war-like type, mga taong may pinag-aralan who know what the word ‘‘propriety’’ means.

Ang akin lang, for the many time na naisulat ko ng maganda ang ngayo’y Batangas Governor, never did I receive a text message that Ate Vi perused me.
