MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) is investigating a commotion during a protest outside the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) on Monday.

The probe was ordered by Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.

City hall officials met with representatives from DAR, QCPD and peasant organizations to discuss the incident.

Up to 15 police personnel were injured. A video showing officers restraining a media worker has gone viral.

QCPD public information officer Maj. Jennifer Gannaban said investigators were establishing what happened before the confrontation, including reports that the reporter punched and kicked police personnel.

Several media groups have called out the QCPD over the alleged violent rally dispersal.

Gannaban said Aaron Ernest Cruz, who identified himself as a reporter for media outfit Bulatlat, was released after he stopped the alleged disruptive behavior.
