Boy, 11, kills SK chairman

TAPAZ, CAPIZ, Philippines — The usual bantering between two children turned deadly and claimed the life of a Sangguniang Kabataan chairman in this town of Capiz Wednesday afternoon. The victim, 16-year-old Fregener Luna, was shot to death by his cousin at Barangay Poblacion of this town.

According to Tapaz Police Women and Children's Desk, the two were just on their usual teasing mode when the suspect got irked. He went inside his parents' bedroom and took his father's 12-gauge shotgun.

The boy then shot Luna, with the bullet entering the victim's left arm and pellets also piercing through his body. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Senior Police Officer 3 Marissa Fantilaga, Tapaz Police WCD chief, the suspect is now under the custody of the Municipal Social Welfare Office. Remorseful, the boy claimed he did not know what came into him that caused him to shoot his cousin.

It was gathered that Luna, a second year high school student, has been staying with the victim's family since he was in grade school. Luna's parents are living in a mountainous barangay in Tapaz. — THE FREEMAN
