Si Garcia na lang ang natitirang option ni Manny

MANILA, Philippines — Dahil pinaplantsa na ang laban ni American welterweight titlist Terence Crawford kay dating world welterweight king Kell Brook ay si Mexican Mikey Garcia na lamang ang natitirang opsyon ni Manny Pacquiao at inaasahang maitatakda ito sa susunod na taon.

“They were talking about Mikey Garcia and I said, ‘Yeah, that’s the perfect fight for Manny.’ But I don’t think we’ll really know until this (pandemic) is over,” wika ni Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach.

Idinagdag ni Roach na mas mahalaga kay Pacquiao  (62-7-2, 39 KOs) ang pagharap ng mga Pinoy sa coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic kaysa sa asikasuhin ang kanyang laban bago matapos ang taon.

“He can’t leave the house because he’s a se-nator, and his kids are all in the house. It’s just a bad time for maybe everybody at this point,” wika ng 60-anyos na si Roach sa Filipino world eight-division champion.

Huling lumaban si Pacquiao noong Hulyo ng 2019 sa MGM Grand sa Las Vegas, Nevada kung saan tinalo niya si American Keith Thurman via split decision para makopo ang World Boxing Asociation (WBA) welterweight crown.

Kamakailan ay inihayag nina Eddie Hearn ng Matchroom Boxing Promotions at Bob Arum ng Top Rank Promotions ang pagpaplantsa ng upakan nina Crawford (36-0-0, 27 KOs) at Brook (39-2-0, 27 KOs).

Matagal nang pinupuntirya ni Roach na ilaban si Pacquiao kay Garcia (40-1-0, 30 KOs).

Bukod kay Garcia, puwede ring labanan ni Pacquiao sa susunod na taon si Errol Spence Jr. (26-0, 21 KOs) na nakatakdang harapin si Danny Garcia (36-2-0, 21 KOs) sa isang FOX Sports Pay-Per-View main event sa Nobyembre 21.
