Philippine Obstacle team buo na

MANILA, Philippines – Buo na ang 16-man line-up ng Pilipinas Obstacle Sports Federation (POSF) na sasabak sa 30th Southeast Asian Games sa Nov. 30 to Dec. 11.

Inihayag ni Atty. Alberto Agra, POSF president, ang mga pangalan ng Philippine obstacle sports athletes na hangad mapanalunan ang anim na gold medals na nakataya sa SEA Games.

Ito ay sina Kevin Pascua, Mark Rodelas, Sherwin Managil, Mervin Guarte, Jeffrey Reginio, Nathaniel Sanchez, Monolito Divina at Kyle Antolin sa men’s side at sina Rochelle Suarez, Milky Mae Tejares, Sandi Abahan, Glorien Merisco, Kaizen Dela Serna, Deanne Moncada, Klymille Rodriguez at Diana Buhler sa female side.

 Ang anim na gold medals na paglalabanan sa sport na ito na ngayon lamang isinama sa SEA Games ay manggagaling sa men’s and women’s individual 5 km x 20 obstacles, men’s and women’s 100m x 10 obstacles, at sa 400m x 12 obstacles team assist at team relay.

Pina-finalize na ng POSF ang venue para sa SEA Games na posibleng sa Sunken Garden sa ma-lawak na University of the Philippines campus.

Magte-training naman ng tatlong buwan ang team sa world-class Pretty Huge Obstacles sa SM Aura araw-araw ma­liban sa Linggo sa loob ng anim na linggo at sama-sama nang magsasanay ng buong linggo ng tatlong buwan.

“That’s one full week for every month until the SEA Games,” sabi ni Moncada bilang panauhin sa Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum kahapon sa Amelie Hotel in Manila kasama sina teammate Glorien Merisco, coach Edward Obiena at Judith Staples ng team sponor na Luminox.

 Ang iba pang bahagi ng coaching team ay sina Raven Quan (supervising), Mark Parilla (obstacles), Ken Tan (strength and conditioning), Saul Sibayan (running) at Anj Borras (physiotherapy).

“We are doing everything in training. The aim is to win all six gold medals in the SEA Games,” sabi  naman ni Merisco sa forum na hatid ng San Miguel Corp., Braska Restaurant, Amelie Hotel at Pagcor.
