MANILA, Philippines — Hangad ni President Ricky Vargas na ayusin ang mga gulo sa Philippine Olympic Committee sa kanilang POC Board Executive Session ngayon upang linawin ang mga isyu na hindi nila napagkakaunawaan.
Ang nasabing pagtitipon ay hinihingi ng walo sa 13 kabuuang miyembro ng Expanded Board sa opisina ng POC sa Philsports Complex sa Pasig City.
“I have decided to accept the call of the majority of executive board members for session with me on 18th of June to clear up the matters in the interest of unity in this crucial stage of our preparations for the Southeast Asian Games,” sabi ni Vargas sa isang press statement noong Sabado.
Ang International Olympic Committee sa pamamagitan ni Jerome Polvey, ang IOC head sa National Olympic Committee Relations ay nagpahayag din ng pag-aalala sa mga pangyayari at hinikayat si Vargas na ayusin ang hindi pagkakaintindihan.
“We found out that the POC president entered into transactions without the knowledge of the POC board. As members of the board, we called for an executive session with the POC president to clarify his position on these issues. He should explain to us what is happening,” ani archery association president Clint Aranas, ang spokesman ng majority sa POC Board.
Ipinahayag din ni Aranas sa isang press conference noong Biyernes sa kanyang opisina sa GSIS building sa Pasay City na ang lahat ng mga pangyayari ay hindi kasali ang buong sports ng bansa kundi isa lamang itong internal problem ng POC.
“This is just an internal problem of the POC. It has nothing to do with sports in our country as a whole. We would like the SEA Games to succeed. We are supporting our hosting of the SEA Games,” ayon kay Aranas ang Presidente at General Manager ng GSIS.
Ayon sa grupo, ang pagpapatayo ng PHISGOC Foundation kung saan isa si Vargas sa mga incorporators kasama sina Ramon Suzara, Donald Caringal, Tom Carrasco, Ed Picson at iba pa ay isa sa gusto nilang linawin ni ng POC head.
