Biado, De Luna mapapalaban sa WCP

MANILA, Philippines — Hahawakan ng Pilipinas ang No. 4 seed sa oras na makipagbakbakan sina world No. 1 Carlo Biado at Jeffrey De Luna sa prestihiyosong World Cup of Pool sa Mayo 15 hanggang 20 sa Luwan Arena sa Shanghai, China.

Base sa inilabas na draw ng organizing committee kahapon, unang makakasagupa nina Biado at De Luna sina Matt Edwards at Marco Teutscher ng New Zealand sa Mayo 16.

Lalarga naman sa opening day sa Mayo 15 sina 2017 champions Albin Ouschan at Mario He laban kina Alejandro Carvajal at Enrique Rojas ng Chile sa torneong nag-imbita ng 32 pinakamalalakas na koponan sa mundo.

Masisilayan din sa first round ang laban ng Poland at Kuwait, Netherlands at Thailand, Canada at Scotland, Germany at Indonesia, China-B at South Africa, Finland at Malaysia, Chinese-Taipei at Albania, Greece at Hong Kong, England at South Korea, Amerika at Singapore, Spain at Vietnam, Japan at Sweden, Russia at Australia at China-A at Estonia.

Ipatutupad ang race-to-seven format sa unang dalawang rounds ng naturang 9-ball event na may nakalaang $250,000 kabuuang premyo tampok ang $60,000 para sa magkakampeon.

“The World Cup is one of the stand out events in the 9-ball calendar. Austria is the defending champions but China is a pool powerhouse and we know the host nation will be among the favorite  to win this great event,” wika ni Matchroom Sport Chairman Barry Hearn sa official website ng torneo.

Puntirya nina Biado at De Luna na maibalik ang korona sa bansa at makuha ang ikaapat na korona ng Pilipinas sa World Cup of Pool.

Noong 2013 pa huling nakakuha ng kampeonato ang Pilipinas sa ngalan nina Dennis Orcollo at Lee Vann Corteza.

Iginupo nina Orcollo at Corteza sina Niels Feijen at Nick Van den Berg ng Netherlands sa finals sa iskor na 10-8.

Namayagpag naman sina legendary cue masters Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes at Francisco ‘Django’ Bustamante sa unang edisyon noong 2006 sa Newport, Wales at sa 2009 edisyon na ginanap sa Manila.
