Humingi ng paumanhin ang Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee (IAGOC) dahil sa inaakala nilang ‘diplomatic lapse’.
Sinabi ng IAGOC na dapat sana ay bibigyan nila ng isang red carpet welcome ang Filipina golfer na si Superal, inakala ng mga Korean officials na prinsesa mula sa isang probinsya sa Pilipinas.
Isang hindi inaasahang courtesy call ang natanggap ni Chief of Mission Ricardo Garcia at kaagad niyang ipinaalam sa IAGOC welcoming committee na may pagkakamali.
“I assured them that there was no oversight on their part. That our golfer, in fact one of our hopes for the gold medal here, is named Princess but that she is not a princess of any part of the Philippines but a princess of our team just the same,” sabi ni Garcia.
