MANILA, Philippines — Gagamitin ng Philippine National Police (PNP) mga transport leaders para sa mahigpit na pagpapatupad ng quarantine rules sa kanilang komunidad.
Kahapon ay ipinag-utos na ni PNP deputy chief for operations Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar sa mga police commanders na makipagpulong sa mga representatives ng transport operators and drivers associations (TODAs) at kunin ang kanilang serbisyo bilang mga force multipliers sa pagpapatupad ng quarantine protocols para mapigilan ang paglaganap ng COVID-19.
“I believe that the TODA leaders would play a key role in the enforcement of health safety standard protocols since they have their own respective disciplinary measures for their erring members,” pahayag pa ni Eleazar.
Ginawa ang hakbang makaraang matanggap ang ulat na marami sa mga tricycle drivers partikular sa mga lalawigan ang hindi nakakasunod sa health at safety protocols katulad ng pagsusuot ng face masks at physical distancing.
“If this calls for the arrest or cancellation of the driver’s license or the franchise, so be it. These hard-headed people must be taught a serious lesson for they cannot just disregard the minimum health safety standard protocol,” dagdag pa ni Eleazar.
Sinabi pa nito na kailangan itong mabantayan mismo ng nasa transport groups dahil posibleng ang kanilang pasahero o mismong mga driver ang carrier ng virus.
Nasa 320,102 indibiduwal ang nasita na dahil sa paglabag sa protocol simula noong Marso 17.
