MANILA, Philippines — Kasama na ngayon ang mga tauhan ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) bilang bagong miyembro ng Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (I-ACT) para walisin ang mauusok at bulok na mga sasakyan sa Metro Manila at kalapit lalawigan.
Dati nang may sariling hakbang ang DENR para ipatupad ang sariling anti-smoke belching program.
Si Undersecretary for Field Operations-Luzon at DENR Task Force Metro Manila head Juan Miguel Cuna ang mamumuno sa DENR contingent para sa I-ACT kasama nito ang mga miyembro ng Anti-Smoke Belching Unit ng DENR’s Environmental Management Bureau (EMB).
Sinabi ni DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu na hangad ng ahensiya na maipamahagi ang kaalaman at kasanayan sa pagtatanggal sa mga smoke belchers.
“The DENR joins other government agencies in the effort to not only rid our already clogged streets with vehicles that are not road worthy, but are also persistent air pollutants,” dagdag ni Cimatu.
Ayon pa kay Cimatu na ang DENR Task Force Metro Manila ay may mga kagamitan at tauhan para magsagawa ng smoke emission tests.
“This capability improves the standard I-ACT practice of issuing subpoenas to substantard vehicles prior to testing,” sabi pa ni Cimatu.
Ang task force ay patuloy ang pagsasagawa ng roadside smoke emission tests sa mga luma at poorly maintained vehicles.
