4 Army officers, 641 bayaning sundalo sa Marawi siege itinaas ng ranggo

MANILA, Philippines — Aabot sa 641 enlisted personnel ng Philippine Army at apat nitong mga opisyal na nakipaglaban sa Maute-SIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) terrorists ang itinaas ng ranggo sa ginanap na “donning of ranks” ceremony sa Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City kahapon kaugnay ng ika-1 taong anibersaryo ng Marawi City siege ngayong araw.

“They surpassed the challenge and earned the privilege to be promoted to the next higher rank. We will be donning the four exemplar officers of the Philippine Army who made it to the star world and to the troops who were instrumental in the Liberation of Marawi City,” pahayag ni Philippine Army Chief Lt. Gen. Rolando Joselito Bautista.

Si Bautista ang dating commander ng Joint Task Force (JTF) Marawi bago ito natalagang Army Chief kaya makahulugan sa heneral ang anibersaryo ng liberation sa lungsod.

Ayon naman kay Philippine Army spokesman Lt. Col. Louie Villanueva, sa donning of ranks o pagkakabit ng mas mataas na ranggo sa 641 enlisted personnels, 36 dito ay may ranggong Master Sergeants, 98 ang Technical Sergeants, 103 Staff Sergeants, 193 Sergeants at 211 Corporals.

Pinangunahan naman ni Brig. Gen. Greg Alme­rol ang mga opisyal. Nagsimula ang krisis sa Marawi noong Marso 23- Oktubre 23, 2017.

Nasa 168 security forces ang nagbuwis ng buhay, 47 sibilyan at mahigit 1,000 Maute-ISIS ang napaslang.

Nasa 1,465 sundalo naman ang nasugatan sa engkuwentro.
