Dahil sa hindi pagsipot sa Senado, Bautista ipina-subpoena

MANILA, Philippines — Naglabas ng subpoena ang isang komite sa Senado laban kay dating Commissions on Elections chairman Andres Bautista matapos siyang hindi sumipot sa pagdinig ngayong Martes.

Sinabi ni Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero, chair ng Senate Committee on Banks, Financial Institutions and Currencies, na maaari nilang i-cite in contempt si Bautista kapag hindi pa siya dumalo sa pagdinig sa Pebrero 12, 2018.

Posible ring makulong sa Senado si Bautista, base sa Section 18 ng Rules Governing Inquiries in Aid of Legislation.

"The committee has consistently sent him invitations to all of the hearings we conducted but, until today, he has not given any reasons for his absence. Not even a representative to act on his behalf," pahayag ni Escudero.

"We held him in his own words on the media in the past that he will appear and defend himself once invited but apparently he has been a consistent no-show," dagdag niya.

Tatlong beses nang hindi dumadalo sa pagdinig si Bautista

Iniimbestigahan ng Senado kung lumabag ba si Bautista sa Anti-Money Laundering Law matapos siyang paratangan ng kaniyang asawa na may tagong yaman.

Hindi umano idineklara ni Bautista ang nasa P250 milyon hanggang P300 milyon niyang halaga ng ari-arian sa kaniyang Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth.

Dahil dito ay isinalang din siya ng Kamara sa impeachment trial hanggang sa nagbitiw siya sa kaniyang pwesto.
