LGUs lugi sa LBP-DBP merger - Gatchalian

MANILA, Philippines – Nagbabala kahapon si Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) senatorial bet Win Gatchalian sa Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas sa posibleng idudulot na epekto nito makaraang payagan ang merger ng Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) at Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) dahil lugi dito ang local government units.

“LBP and DBP are the dominant lending institutions that finance LGU projects. If their union will be approved, they will create a monopoly and hold the growth of underdeveloped provinces and municipalities hostage,” paliwanag ni Valenzuela Rep. Gatchalian.

“The merger, which will leave the LBP as the surviving entity, can kill competition and lead to inefficiency since it is too big to cover all the financing needs of LGUs and other concerned sectors,” paliwanag pa ng NPC senatorial candidate.

Maging ang Bankers Association of the Philippines president Lorenzo Tan, ay mayroong agam-agam katulad ni Gatchalian kaugnay sa nasabing merger.
