161-km bike lanes, ilalagay sa Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines — Upang mapangalagaan at matulungan ang mas maraming empleyado at publiko, maglalagay na ang Quezon City government ng network para sa bike lanes na may habang 161 kilometro sa buong lungsod.

Ito ang inanunsyo ni Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte sa pagdiriwang ng Internatioanl Bike Day kahapon bilang bahagi ng commitment na magkaroon ng maayos na reco­very at global clean air initiative sa lungsod sa panahon ng COVID-pandemic.  

“This was a priority for us even before COVID-19 happened as part of our global commitment to reducing air pollution by 2030, but due to the pres­sing need for transport du­ring the pandemic, and the bike culture that emerged as a result of this, we are fast-tracking its implementation,” pahayag ni QC  Mayor Joy Belmonte.

Aniya, ang gawing isang walkable at bikeable­ city ang QC ay bahagi ng prog­rama na makamit ang 14-point agenda ng lokal na pamahalaan katuwang ang Move As One Coalition.

Mula sa kasalukuyang­ 55 kilometro na bike routes  na nailunsad mula noong 2018, plano ng city govern­ment na pahabain pa ito sa 161 km na halos may tat­long beses na laki sa kasaluku­yang bike routes. Lalagyan ng barriers, signages, markers­ at iba pang kaila­ngang infrastructure para matiyak ang kaligtasan para sa bike-riding public.

Bago matapos ang Hunyo­, sisimulan ang paglalagay ng bike routes sa pamama­gitan ng Parks Development and Administration Department (PDAD) at ng Task Force on Transportation and Traffic Management (TFTTM).
