HANOI, Vietnam- Siniguro ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na huling war games sa pagitan ng US at Pilipinas ang magaganap matapos ang kanyang termino.
Ginawa ni Pangulong Duterte ang paniniguro sa mensahe nito sa Filipino community ng Vietnam.
“You are scheduled to hold war games again, which China does not want. I will serve notice to you now that this will be the last military exercise. Jointly, Philippines, the US, the last one,” wika pa ni Pangulong Duterte pero iginiit na igagalang pa din nito ang mga treaties sa pagitan ng PH at US.
Magsasagawa ng military exercise ang Pilipinas at US sa Luzon at Palawan kasama ang 1,400 US troops at 500 na AFP soldiers sa darating na Oct. 4-12.
Wika pa ni Duterte, papayagan lamang niya ito upang matupad lamang ni Defense Sec. Delfin Lorenzana ang commitment nito at ayokong mapahiya si Lorenzana.
“So I’m serving notice now to the Americans and to those who are allies: I will maintain the military alliance because there is an RP-US Pact which our countries signed in the early ‘50s. But I will establish new alliances for trade and commerce and you are scheduled to hold war games again, which China does not want,” wika pa ni Duterte. Bago maupo si Duterte ay nagkaroon ng joint exercises din ang US at Pilipinas noong Abril na ikinairita ng China dahil sa West Philippine Sea ito ginanap.
Itinatanggi naman ni DFA Sec. Perfecto Yasay Jr. na ito na ang magiging huling military exercises sa pagitan ng US at Pilipinas dahil hindi ito napag-usapan sa cabinet meeting ang naging pahayag ni Duterte hinggil sa pagpapatigil ng joint military exercises.
