Vietnam binigyan ng ultimatum para sa hosting ng SEA Games

MANILA, Philippines — May hanggang Oktubre na lamang ang Vietnam para magdesisyon kung itutuloy ang pamamahala sa 31st Southeast Asian Games o kakanselahin na lamang ito.

Sa online meeting ng SEA Games Federation noong Biyernes ay nagkaisa ang mga miyembro na bigyan ng ultimatum ang Vietnam.

“The consensus was for Vietnam to make a decision, otherwise, the 31st SEA Games would be canceled,” ani Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino.

Ipinanukala ng pede­rasyon na itakda sa Mayo 2022 ang pagdaraos ng Vietnam sa SEA Games na orihinal na nakatakda sa Nobyembre ng taong ito kundi lamang sa COVID-19 pandemic.

Ito ay dahil sa mga kompetisyon na nakalinya sa susunod na taon.

“There are three major Asian and two interna­tional competitions in 2022,” wika ni Tolentino. “That leaves Vietnam a very small window to hold the SEA Games.”
