Kailangan pang kumayod ni Tsukii

MANILA, Philippines — Bagama’t umakyat sa No. 8 sa world rankings ng female kumite -50 kilogram category ay alam ni national karateka Junna Tsukii na hindi pa rin ito sapat para makamit niya ang inaasam na Olympic Games berth.

Kailangan pa rin niyang makapasok sa top three ng kanyang weight division sa lalahukang World Karate Championship sa Hunyo 11-14 sa Paris, France na pinakahuling Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT).

“But I’m not enough. More stronger, more higher. My challenge never stops,” sabi ng Fil-Japanese fighter na inangkin ang gintong medalya sa nakaraang Lisbon Premier League sa Portugal.

Umakyat si Tsukii sa No. 8 mula sa pagiging No. 10 sa kanyang weight class matapos pagreynahan ang nasabing World Karate Federation (WKF) Premier League.

Para makolekta ang gold medal sa torneo ay tinalo ng 2019 Southeast Asian Games gold medalist na si Tsukii sina two-time world champion Alexandra Recchia ng France, 2-0 sa semifinal round at Moldir Zhangbyrbay ng Kazakhstan, 2-0 sa finals.

Bukod kay Tsukii, tatarget din ng Olympic seat sa Tokyo, Japan sina 2019 SEA Games gold medal winner Jamie Lim, Joanne Orbon, Ivan Agustin, Shariff Afif, Alwyn Batican at Jason Macaalay.
