Smart, PLDT proud kay Diaz

MANILA, Philippines — Pinuri ng PLDT at Smart Communications, Inc. si national weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz sa kanyang pag-entra sa 2021 Olympic Games sa Tokyo, Japan sa Hulyo.

“We have always believed in the importance of sports in nation-building, and Hidilyn has given us another reason to be proud as Filipinos,” sabi ni Smart Communications President at CEO at PLDT Chief Revenue Officer Al Panlilio. “We are continuously supporting her in her journey to the Olympics, as she joins the roster of Filipino athletes who will be representing the country in this much-awaited sporting event.”

Ang 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics silver medalist na si Diaz ang pang-pitong Pinoy athlete na nakasikwat ng Olympic seat matapos sina pole vaulter Ernest John Obie-na, gymnast Carlos Edriel Yulo at boxers Eumir Felix Marcial, Irish Magno, Nesthy Petecio at Carlo Paalam.

Ilang taon nang tinutulungan ng Manny V. Pa-ngilinan Sports Foundation (MVPSF), isang organisasyon na sumusuporta sa mga Filipino athletes, ang tubong Zamboanga City na si Diaz sa kanyang preparasyon at paglahok sa mga torneo.

Samantala, itinalaga ng MVPSF ang  dating volleyball player na si Gretchen Ho bilang bago nilang ambassador.
