MANILA, Philippines — Limang major international competitions ang nakatakdang lahukan ng Team Philippines sa susunod na taon kung kailan inaasahang mayroon nang bakuna para sa coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Kaya naman gusto ng mga Senador na dagdagan ang pondo ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) para sa nasabing kampanya ng national team.
“May I request the sponsors to add a bit of budget for the Olympics and the SEA Games. I think minuscule ang budget and we need to support the athletes,” ani Senate Majority Leader Migz Zubiri kamakalawa sa idinaos na Senate plenary budget hearing para sa 2021 budget ng PSC.
Lalahok ang mga national athletes sa 32nd Olympic Games, 31st Southeast Asian Games, Asian Beach Games, Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games at Paralympics.
Inisponsoran ni Sen. Sonny Angara, nakapasa ang 2021 budget ng PSC sa plenary deliberations ng Senado.
Bukod kina Angara at Zubiri, pangulo ng Philippine Eskrima Kali Federation (PEKAF), gusto ring madagdagan nina Sen. Joel Villanueva, Nancy Binay, Francis Tolentino at Imee Marcos ang pondo ng PSC.
“The Chairman of the PSC does his best and he has done it with limited resources,” ani Zubiri kay PSC chairman William ‘Butch’Ramirez. “But I must put on record Mr. President, the Chairman of the PSC’s credibility is untainted in the last four years he has handled the PSC..”
