Cotto nangako ng panalo kay Alvarez

LAS VEGAS – Ilang araw bago ang kanilang laban ni Canelo Alvarez ay ti­nanggalan si Miguel Cotto ng World Boxing Council ng middleweight crown dahil sa hindi pagbabayad sa sanctioning fee na nagkakahalaga ng $300,000.

Sinabi ng 34-anyos na Puerto Rican na hindi niya kailangan ang WBC title para ipakita ang kanyang husay laban sa 23-ayos na si Alvarez.

“I don’t need a belt to fight Canelo,” sabi ni Cotto, nagkampeon sa apat na magkakaibang weight classes, sa kanilang upakan ngayon ni Alvarez dito sa Mandalay Bay Event Center.

Kung mananalo si Alvarez ay sa kanya mapupunta ang nabakanteng WBC mid­dleweight belt ni Cotto.

Kasalukuyang nasa isang three-fight winning streak si Cotto at ginagabayan ni Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach.

Nangako si Cotto (40-4-0, 33 KOs) na hindi magsisisi ang mga boxing fans sa kanilang ibabayad para sa laban nila ni Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KOs).

“This fight sells itself. Everybody should know what to expect from Canelo and what kind of fight they can expect from me,” sabi ni Cotto.

Preparado rin si Alvarez sa Puerto Rican superstar.

“This is a guarantee. Without a doubt, this is a fight,” ani Alvarez sa pamamagitan ng translator. “We are both coming to win. We are both going to fight. We are both going to lay it on the line, and without a doubt, this is a fight for real.”
